Treated Timber Products, through direct ownership, partnerships, lease agreements and management have over 60 000 hectares of commercial timber plantations for our raw material requirements in South Africa. TTP in consultation with various nurseries and plant breeders are involved in the development of clonal Saligna and Grandis hybrids, designed to produce trees with perfect stem form, density and strength requirements. All Treated Timber Products owned and managed plantations are FSC ® (Forest Stewardship Council ®) certified (FSC-C122470).
Our plantations are grown on a 5 to 18 year cycle depending on the pole size required. The younger aged timber supplies the fencing and fruit trellising market, while the older trees supply the transmission and telecommunications markets. The rotation policy we employ on the farms ensures that there is a constant supply of quality raw material coming into our treating facilities on a steady basis.
